The first division of the French team championship took place this year on the International golf course of Pont-Royal in Provence. The sixteen best teams in France therefore competed once again to try to lift the Gounouilhou trophy. The formula is:

  • Two rounds of strokplay, the five best cards are retained among the six players
  • Match-play phases; the first eight teams play the title, the last eight play the maintenance

It was the Terre-Blanche golf course that dominated these qualifications, only two strokes ahead of the Cannes-Mougins team. The Saint-Cloud team completes the podium, seven strokes behind Terre Blanche.

The road to the trophy:

After eliminating Saint-Nom in the quarter-finals, Saint-Cloud faced Cannes-Mougins, second in qualifying. The Ile-de-France residents once again won, 4,5 / 2,5. At the same time, it was Biarritz who made it to the final after eliminating Manville then Saint Germain.

Biarritz was playing its second consecutive final after failing against Terre Blanche in 2021.

Terre Blanche, double defending champion and first team of the Stoke-plays, was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Saint-Germain.

The final was dominated from start to finish by the Saint-Cloud players. Leading 2-0 after the morning doubles, Maxence Mugnier and Julien Sale brought the two points of victory by winning the first two singles.

Saint-Cloud had not won since 1962. This is their fifth title.

On the side of the dams:

  • Palmola beats Raray 3,5/1,5
  • Bordeaux beat Priory 3/2
  • Amiens beats Bussy 3/2
  • Bordeaux Lac beats Medoc in the derby 3,5/1,5

It is therefore the clubs of Raray, Prieuré, Bussy and Médoc which go down to the 2nd division.
