The very popular Saint-Cloud golf course hosted one of the 17 stages of the Philippe Chatrier Trophy on Thursday May 16th. The foundation which bears the name of the former president of the French Tennis Federation fights against Alzheimer's disease.

The Saint-Cloud course, nestled in lush greenery just a few minutes from the capital, has welcomed a lot of people in the past. The Duke of Windsor, Dwight Eisenhower, Sean Connery and even President François Mitterrand (who regularly played 9 holes on Monday mornings) have, among others, set foot on an estate that belonged two centuries ago to the Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais. There were also people last Thursday (64 participants) for the Philippe Chatrier trophy, which included another distinguished guest: the sun.

Always pleasant to play a century-old course steeped in history (on January 19, 1871 the battle of Buzenval against the Prussians took place on the site of the fairway of the green hole n ° 15) and magnificent, which sometimes even lets glimpse the Tower of 'Eiffel between two trees. Especially under such conditions and for a noble cause. Note also the generosity of the Saint-Cloud golf course, which rarely opens its doors to the general public and has donated all green fees to the Philippe Chatrier foundation.

Nearly a million patients affected by Alzheimer's in France

This charity was created by the son of the former Davis Cup player and former president of the French Tennis Federation (the Roland-Garros Central court bears his name), who died in 2000 of Alzheimer's disease. Today incurable affection of the nervous system, it affects approximately 44 million people in the world (almost one million in France), a number which could reach 100 million in 2050. The Philippe Chatrier foundation supports research against this disease and collects fund by organizing every year, in a good mood, numerous golf (but also tennis) competitions for amateurs of all levels. The sparkling president of the association, Catherine Sabbag Nahoum, awaits you for the next Trophies - a scramble for two - which will take place this year in other golf courses. *
