On a wet and drizzly day, the 2020 LET Rookie of the Year got off to the best possible start by opening her lap with a birdie on the tenth hole.

After giving up a stroke to get back to par, the Australian birdied on four of her next six holes and, despite another miss, she finished her round with three more birdies to reach six under par.

" It was good. I think I was a little lucky today, but I also hit some pretty good shots. I had a few short putts, which I put in, and I managed to put in two long ones, which ended up paying with a score of six under the par ”, explained the young woman of 20 years.

“I like the look of the course. I think I'm hitting a fairly straight ball so I guess I have a little advantage but there was also a bit of luck today because if you miss the fairway it can be like cacti there . "

Humphreys comes into the tournament with his first pro win, and is two strokes behind Kyriacou, with a score of four under par.

The English golfer, competing in her third LET event, played a round of 68, with six birdies and two bogeys.

The 19-year-old triumphed at the Golf Flanders LETAS Trophy last week in Belgium and she believes Rosendaelsche is a similar course.

“Last week was great, it was good to get into the race. I've only been professional for a few weeks, it was good to get closer to the top and finish it. It gave me a great boost of confidence ”said Humphreys, who turned pro in early June.

“I tried to do the same as last week and see what happens because the course is similar. Last week it was pretty tight at the start, like today, and you just have to keep the ball in play and grab your opportunities when you can, and I did that pretty well. "

Four golfers are one stroke short, Spain's Maria Hernandez, Welsh Lydia Hall, Austria's Christine Wolf and Dutch Dewi Weber all having a first round of 69.

Six players are in T7 with a score of two under par, including Tipsport Czech Ladies Open 2021 champion Atthaya Thitikul.
