Shanshan Feng dominated the top of the standings until the last round of the TOTO Japan Classic and retained his title acquired last year on Sunday in Ibaraki. The Chinese golfer handed over a last card of 68, subtracting 4 strokes from the course, to finish at (-19).

Feng rose to the top of the standings on Saturday after surrendering a card of 63, which was the fastest lap of the event and won by two strokes ahead of Ai Suzuki.

The bronze medalist at the Rio Olympics collected six birdies for a total of 197, (-19).

She had already won the Japan Classic in 2016. This makes her the first player on the female circuit to successfully defend her title in 2017. This is her second victory of the season, after that acquired at the Michigan Volvik Championship. , in May.

Feng started this last day of competitions with buggies at the 1st and 3rd holes. Birdies on the 2nd and 4th flags, however, limited the damage. She later made four more birdies to distance herself from her rivals.
