The oldest tournament in continental Europe, the French Open, will change location in 2025. Due to the work on line 18 of Grand Paris, which will affect the Golf National, the St-Nom-la- site Bretèche (78) should host the event sponsored by FedEx.

The 2025 French Open will be played in St-Nom-la-Bretèche

St-Nom-la-Bretèche is a historic route, which has already hosted numerous prestigious events, such as the Lancôme Trophy, Seve Trophy, the World Amateur Team Championships and the French Open three times (1965, 69 and 82).

According to Olivier Denis-Massé, the Deputy Director of Communication, Marketing and Partnerships of the French Golf Federation, nothing has yet been signed between the DP World Tour, which is promoter of the tournament until 2026, and St Nom, but the discussions are progressing. FedEx would like the tournament to remain in the Paris region, which rules out other options such as Médoc or Chantilly.

THEFrench Open 2025 will therefore be a delocalized edition, before returning to National Golf in 2026, after the Paris Olympics. The journey ofAlbatros, which notably hosted the Ryder Cup 2018, will undergo some modifications to adapt to the passage of the metro line, which will pass very close to hole number 4. It will be necessary to shift the green of 4, which will require moving the start of 5 and therefore also its green so that the hole is not too short. All these changes could even affect hole number 6.

The 2025 French Open will therefore be an opportunity to discover or rediscover St-Nom-la-Bretèche, a site steeped in history and prestige, which should offer a great spectacle to golf enthusiasts.
