Sporting excellence crowned by the Rolex Annika Major Award

The Evian Championship occupies a strategic position within the very closed circle of world golf majors. The last stage of the season, it brings together the 120 best players in the world who will fight for the title, but also for the Rolex Annika Major Award. For the 4th consecutive year, RAMA will crown the champion who has signed the best performance during the 5 Majors of the season. Everything will be decided at the Evian Championship, which organizes the official ceremony on Saturday, September 16, honoring the champions in the running before their coronation at the end of the tournament. Who will succeed Michelle Wie (2014), Inbee Park (2015) and Lydia Ko (2016)? So Yeon Ryu, recent winner of the ANA Inspiration, the first Major of the season, has set serious milestones in this race for excellence.

Award of a new wildcard, in partnership with AGJA

A partnership has just been concluded between Evian and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). Numerous actions are thus put in place, perfectly echoing the ambitions of putting the Evian Championship platform at the service of young talents to best support them in their sporting practice and promote the emergence of champions. As such, a new wildcard was awarded to the amateur player who received the Rolex Girls Junior Player of the Year 2016. Paphangkorn Tavatanakit (17) thus wins her passport for the Evian Championship 2017. The number 1 Thai amateur, University player from UCLA, had already been noticed in 2014 during the Callaway Junior World Championship with an incredible score of 60 (-12), a real feat.

The Evian Championship platform dedicated to young talents is ramping up

The Evian Championship platform is experiencing a real boom with the creation of new events dedicated to the best international amateur players, planned at the Evian Resort Golf Club this year but also in 2018.

Flagship component of the partnership with the AJGA, the creation of a new mixed tournament for under 18s. Organized at the Evian Resort Golf Club next October, the Evian Junior Event will make it possible to form a Team France made up of the 8 best of the event (6 boys, 2 girls). This selection will then have the opportunity to compete in the Evian International & Senior Showcase in Las Vegas and to be noticed by the greatest American university coaches. Another great novelty, the Evian Resort Golf Club will host the Arnold Palmer Cup in July 2018. This will be the 22nd edition of this great confrontation between 2 mixed university teams, an American team against an international team.
