Golf courses and golfing destinations around the world were honored at a gala dinner held on the occasion of the IAGTO Awards 2019 in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.

The destinations celebrated for their excellence by the golf tourism industry are the Spanish regions of Costa del Sol and Logroño-La Rioja, the Dominican Republic, Mauritius, Hua Hin in Thailand and Scottsdale in Arizona.

The best golf resorts have been awarded: Gleneagles for Scotland, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for the Canadian province of British Columbia and Mission Hills Haikou, on the paradise island of Hainan in China.

In addition to the IAGTO Awards - set up by the world golf tourism organization IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Organizers), four other golf courses were recognized for their environmental and community efforts at the 2019 IAGTO Sustainability Awards ; organized jointly for six years with the GEO foundation, an organization for sustainable development in the golf sector.

The 2019 winners are: the Italian club Gardagolf, the Jack's Point Golf in New Zealand, Al Mouj Golf in Oman, on Vidago Palace in Portugal.

The winners were announced in front of 1 golf tourism professionals from all over the world, at the gala dinner held at the Ljubljana Congress and Exhibition Center to close the 200st International Golf Travel Market.
