©Grand Hôtel des Thermes Marins in Saint-MaloYana K. is an interior design studio in Saint-Lunaire on the Emerald Coast. Created in 2012, it multiplies sensitive and delicate projects that smell of sea spray. These experiences and the expertise of its founder Yana Kouznetsova enabled Yana K. to win the call for tenders for the Grand Hôtel des Thermes Marins in Saint-Malo. Yana K. has just taken up the challenge, both artistic and technical, of completely revamping – in just three weeks – her Reception and Restaurant le Cap Horn. To the delight of customers who have returned for a few days, the establishment now has a natural and contemporary atmosphere, imbued with assumed notes of Art Deco.

Two projects at the service of a magnificent historic building, a reference in the seaside and well-being hotel industry

The call for tenders for the Grand Hôtel des Thermes Marins in Saint-Malo immediately inspired Yana K. It was about comfort, conviviality, a chic and timeless living experience by the sea, luxury without ostentation or still from the Belle Epoque. This decorative spirit, the Yana K. studio has seized on to design two projects where attention to detail has made the difference.

“The search for new sensations inspired by these two projects really drove our creative approach. We have built our response with attention to detail for the benefit of a unique architecture, echoing the history of the place, and generating emotions. explains Yana Kouznetsova. The issue of notoriety was sizeable, as were the production constraints. Indeed, to revolutionize the image of the place in every detail, Yana K. only had three weeks. Beyond the artistic accomplishment, the technical performance and customer satisfaction are on the agenda as evidenced by Olivier Raulic, General Manager of the Thermes Marins de Saint-Malo: “These intense projects were strong moments of collective energy. And even if there are still a few details to finalize or refine, the sites were delivered on time and the result is there. We are already getting a lot of positive feedback. We can all be proud of the work accomplished”.

A curved reception in an Art Deco style

Passionate about Art Deco and Art Nouveau, Yana Kouznetsova develops a work on roundedness made of niches, arches, alcoves and curved lines. This appetite, she put it entirely at the service of the Reception of the Grand Hôtel des Thermes. The doors fit into a niche with rounded shapes to provide softness. The decorative partitions in powder-coated metal with an Art Deco motif structure the space with lightness. The project also mixes noble materials such as the salmon pink marble of the floors (original element voluntarily kept for the sake of aesthetics and eco-responsibility, just like the ceilings), coffee oak, black metal or taupe linen.

The black accents, the guiding line of the project, underline the warm colors of the concept. Lighting, the most thrilling part of interior decoration, takes on real meaning in this project with the choice of French-made lights. It delicately draws the eye to different places in the reception area, highlighting the bas-relief sculpture, the Dacryl columns, the door niches, the Tecnografica panels or the curved showcases.

The refined combination of different materials and colors is part of the color nuances of the Plumes de Botteganove earthenware panels. The new tambour door in exotic solid wood – a real technical challenge – coffee stain finish, plunges the customer into the 5-star hotel for a total immersion of well-being.

Because today, traveling is no longer simply about getting around, but about living unique experiences!

Restaurant le Cap Horn: the awakening of the senses!

Going back to the origins of its name “Cape Horn”, Yana K. imagined a new, more enlightened and lively representation of the restaurant. The idea was to find meaning in the concept in order to transcribe it in a decorative dimension that was both invigorating and luxurious. Inspired by the memorial representing the silhouette of an albatross located at Cape Horn, Yana K. then drew on the geographical location of the restaurant: the sea, the beach, the wind, the emerald blue colors and the sand. The carpet in these same tones and with curved lines, recalls the landscape directly seen from the restaurant for an immersion from the inside to the outside.

Two panoramic photos representing the furrow will also hold the attention of gourmets. A touch of gold present in the furniture, picture rails and metal structures, plunge them into the refined universe of the 5* hotel.
