The last tournament of the PGA Tour season, the Tour Championship, was played in East Lake.

At the top of the FedEx rankings following his victory at the BMW Championship a week ago, Patrick Cantlay took the lead in this tournament at -10. He finished the week at -21, one stroke ahead of John Rahm and won his first FedEx Cup.

Like every year, Atlanta hosts the last tournament of the season: the Tour Championship. With in particular the biggest prize of the year, this tournament welcomes the 30 best players of the season on the PGA Tour. The player field is therefore up to the event: the 15 best players in the world participate in the competition.

For three years now, the points scored during the regular season of the PGA Tour and the ranking of the FedEx Cup at the end of the BMW Championship, grant a certain number of strokes ahead or behind on the Championship Tour.

So, after winning the BMW Championship and taking the lead in the standings, Patrick Cantlay started the tournament in the lead at -10. On the evening of each lap, Cantlay retained the first position. Even if the world number 1, winner of the US Open, Johan Rahm sounded the charge, Cantlay was able to resist these assaults. On the par 70 of the East Lake course, he returns cards of 67-66-67-69. The end of the last lap was thrilling. After a bogey on hole number 17, Cantlay started on 18 with only one stroke ahead of Spaniard Rahm. Both men successfully attacked the par 5 of 18 in two. Rahm being further away, putt first for the eagle, which he unfortunately did not convert. Cantlay therefore had two putts to birdie and win the tournament. At 29, the Long Beach native won his first FedEx Cup.

Three weeks away from the Ryder Cup, he is positioned as the fit man on the American side.

For world points, the award is based on the score at the end of 72 holes without compensation. John Rahm and Kevin Na both finished tied at 266 strokes (-14) and therefore shared the world points for first place, i.e. 51,2 points. Patrick Cantlay, winner of the FedEx Cup finished in fourth position.

World number 2 and title holder Dustin Johnson finished 8th in this FedEx Cup.

Two-time US Open and USPGA winner Brooks Koepka couldn't finish the tournament. The West Palm Beach player decided to quit after suffering a severe pain in his wrist after a hit in a root. Now 3 weeks before the Ryder Cup, it's a big blow for the American team to consider doing without a quadruple winner in major.

Following this retirement, Joaquin Niemann found himself alone to play his last lap. The young Chilean took the opportunity to set a new record on the PGA Tour, that of the lap played the fastest. He steals this record from Kévin Na by completing his game in 1h53, for a score of 72 (+2).
