The Milan 2015 World Fair will be held from May 1 to October 31, 2015. To date, 147 countries have confirmed their presence. Over more than 2000 m², the France Pavilion will respond to the theme chosen this year: Nourishing the Planet, Energy for Life. A good reason to discover or rediscover the beautiful golf courses of Lombardy.

20140209_Expo_Milan_01How to ensure sufficient, quality, healthy and sustainable food for all of humanity when the planet could number more than 9,7 billion human beings by 2050? This is the question posed by the Universal Exhibition in Milan, from May 1 to October 31, 2015, through the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The Universal Exhibition, which takes place every five years, welcomes 147 participants this year, including the European Union and the United Nations. That is 1 million m² of space to learn, taste, reflect, relax and marvel. Twenty-five million visitors from all countries are expected for this major tourist event. The French Pavilion with a total cost of € 30 million (20 for the State and 10 for communities, sectors and partner companies) will highlight French agriculture, fishing and agrifood over 3 m², including 600 2 m² built. The pavilion, created by the architectural firms XTU, ALN - Atelien Architecture and the Studio Adeline Rispal for the scenography, will illustrate France's culinary traditions, but its innovative treatment will also demonstrate how our country has a strong technical and scientific potential on subjects of food sufficiency. The route starts with a labyrinthine and luxuriant garden. It presents a succession of landscapes illustrating all the diversity and richness of our regions, including cereal crops, livestock, mixed farming or market gardening. After this plant environment, the France Pavilion stands proudly on its powerful pillars. A "building-territory" which consists of a hall open to the city, a large roof that provides shade to accommodate our visitors in the best conditions.

Wood frame

Like the halls present everywhere on the territory, the France Pavilion is a place of exchange but also of production. Under the roof horizontal, the structure looks like an inverted landscape. Its ceiling, which is full of animal and vegetable productions, processed products, illustrates the French identity by expressing its great variety: from its local products to its advanced agro-industry. As the Pavillon Baltard testified to the know-how of its time in terms of steel structure, the France Pavilion expresses the mastery of the most modern technologies in terms of wood frame. The French arch will be both a hall, a barn, a laboratory of innovations, a place of education. Under this wooden framework of the jura, which can be entirely dismantled and reassembled, everything is brought together to reflect together on the future of our planet in terms of food, around the theme carried by France: "Producing and feeding differently". “France is at the heart of the challenges of this event. It is directly concerned by this central issue, devoted to food security and dietary diversity. As for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, our country wishes to carry positive messages from a country that can respond to this food challenge, thanks to its undeniable economic and scientific advantages on this subject. France is in a position to become fully involved in all issues related to the preservation of product quality and the environment with the objective of feeding the whole planet ” underlined Alain Berger, the general commissioner of the 2015 Universal Exhibition, during the presentation of the pavilion to the press.

Twenty-five million visitors expected

Our pavilion organized on three floors around a gourmet restaurant (60 covers), a brasserie (240 covers), a fast food area, private lounges and a shop will finally highlight all the diversity and quality of our local products (bread, cheeses, cold meats, meats, seafood, pastries, chocolates and cookies). After Shanghai, before Dubai and, perhaps, Paris in 2025, Milan is preparing to welcome the whole world for six months. Twenty-five million visitors, including a million French, are expected in Italy. To cope with this exceptional population displacement, all TGV France-Italy will mark from May 1 to October 31, the stop at Rho Fiera station on the exhibition site, with direct access to the city center of Milan by metro. During this period, an additional round trip is set up on the main weekends. Customers can book their tickets in advance and at the best price: now for travel until July 4, and from March 17 for travel until the end of August. To have a preview of the experience, the TGV France-Italy trains are now equipped with a special livery. Throughout Expo Milano 2015, numerous on-board entertainment and promotional offers will be offered to travelers. With the theme "Producing and feeding differently", France, the world's fifth largest exporter of food products, intends to respond concretely to questions related to access to food in many developing countries. On the occasion of Expo Milano 2015, our country is preparing to fully play its part in the concert of the great world powers. There is now only hope that the 40 euros entry ticket (excluding packages and special rates), does not deter a large number of visitors from going to the exhibition.

Lombardy is the only province in Italy that can offer such a wide and complete range of golf courses. There are sixty-nine golf courses in the region around Milan that will delight lovers of history, natural spaces and old stones. The Golf Club Milano is located in the Royal Park of Monza, about 700 km north of the city. It remains one of the most prestigious in Italy. Note that the Golf Club Milano welcomes in 2015 from September 17 to 20 the Italian Golf Open. A little further, the Franciacorta Golf Club, in the famous wine-growing area of the same name, links each local grand cru to a specific hole. The Golf Club Villa d'Este located near the small lake of Montorfano at an altitude of 400 meters is reminiscent in some ways of the most beautiful courses in Scotland. This club has an 18-hole course - one of the most difficult "par 69" in Europe - which winds through the woods of chestnut, birch and pine trees. For more information, the Lombardy Golf Federation's website has listed the various courses in the region, classifying them by category and order of difficulty.
