And what was one of the major arguments of the Olympic campaign? The quality of sites and equipment. Pierre Béder, President of the Departmental Council and passionate about sport, is delighted with this decision: “ chauvinism has no place in Olympic sport, but I like to believe that the quality of our sites weighed in this attribution ».

Because it is now a certainty, the first Ile-de-France department in number of licensees (more than 380) and sports equipment (more than 000) will host the tests in four exceptional places:

  • The track cycling, BMX and fencing events of the modern pentathlon will take place at the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, based in Montigny-le-Bretonneux.
  • The Golf National de Guyancourt will host the golf competitions after the 2018 Ryder Cup.
  • The Palace of Versailles will be the prestigious setting for horse riding and modern pentathlon events
  • The hill of Elancourt will host mountain biking events.

For Pierre Béder, this project lights up the future: “ in our fight to strengthen the attractiveness of our territory and accelerate policies in favor of the Yvelines, this is a major help, in terms of prestige but also of concrete economic spinoffs, in particular in the sensitive areas of transport and housing. »

Serving all Yvelines, the Departmental Council has always encouraged the practice of sport by the greatest number. Today, the Olympic perspective magnifies this commitment and the teams of the Department, like all Yvelines, are already mobilized to make the Olympic Games of 2024 the celebration of planetary sport which rallies the young, the big, those who like to move forward, participate, dream and make people dream.
