At the end of the last round on Sunday of the Charles Schwab Challenge, after answering questions from journalists about his game and about playing a PGA Tour event without the presence of fans, Watson was asked about one of the most famous cars in the history of television.

The one with the Confederate flag on the roof, which has since been repainted.

“So yes, I have General Lee, and I did some research. … We would like to donate it to a museum because we believe it is part of the history of television ”said Bubba Watson about the car he paid $ 112 for. “There is nothing racist about this series. I did not buy the car for the Confederate flag. I bought it because my family, my father and I, my mother and I, watched this series, but there is obviously no more flag on this car, which I had removed in 2015 ”

He got the car at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale in 2012 and then drove it a few days later to the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale where spaces are reserved in the clubhouse parking lot for former winners of the ordeal. General Lee had his specially dedicated location, however Watson never won the event.

General Lee was the star of the popular television series "Sheriff, scare me" (The Dukes of Hazzard), which aired from 1979 to 1985. The car is a 1969 Dodge Charger and over 300 General Lees were used in series production. Most were destroyed during chases and collisions, according to the auction house, Profiles in History.

General Lee that Bubba Watson owns is nicknamed Lee 1. This is the car that jumps over a police car in the opening credits. The auction house reports that there are only three General Lees left in the world.
