Anna Nordqvist kept all her cool against the other Scandinavian Nanna Koerstz Madsen who finished her round on a heavy double bogey. At 34, the 54th Swedish woman in the world won the third major title of her career.

Nordqvist posted this Sunday a final card of 69 (-12 total) ahead of the English Georgia Hall, the American Lizette Salas and her compatriot Madelene Sagstrom (-11) by one point.

Already winner in 2009 at the LPGA Championship and the Evian Championship 2017, the Swede succeeds the German Sophia Popov, finishing with a sumptuous approach at the 18th.

"JI think it's a very special victory for me ”, said Nordqvist minutes after winning the AIG British Women's Open. " Simply because it took me a few years, I fought so hard and wondered if I was making the right choices. Also, knowing how very hard my caddy also worked, I really wanted to do it for him too. My husband was very supportive of me, as well as all of my friends and family. Having spectators on the course and feeling that adrenaline all over again makes this victory very special for me ”.

« There is just something about golf that motivates me“, She declared a few minutes later. " I hate to lose probably more than I like to win. … I hate giving up. I have the impression that things are chained. I saw a lot of good things happening last year and a lot of good things happening this year. To be able to get things done; I felt like last week at the Scottish Open, I had played really well. I hit the ball really well in this wind. So I think it was a confidence boost for me"
