Thanks to a last card of 66 (-5), Jordan Spieth grabs a play-off against the winner of the FedEx Cup 2021, Patrick Cantlay. The Texan finally emerges victorious from this duel thanks to an exit from the bunker of which he alone has the secret. He thus adds the RBC Heritage to his list, his thirteenth victory on the PGA Tour.

RBC Heritage's victory at Hilton Head was finally decided in a play-off between two Ryder Cup players and two FedEx Cup winners: Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay.
Starting behind the leaders on the last lap, Jordan Spieth started the machine with two eagles on his first five holes: a bunker exit on 2 and an 8-meter putt on 5. He finally signed three birdies including a determinant at 18, for two bogeys at the end of the game for a card of 66 (-5). This card, his best of the week, allowed him to establish himself as the leader in the clubhouse.

Patrick Cantlay had to work hard to join the Texan at the top of the leaderboard. Tied with Spieth at the start of par 3 of hole 14, he commits a three putt synonymous with bogey. He will have to wait for hole 17, a par three of about 150 meters, to sign a new birdie thanks to an iron shot on the flag.

This hole 14 unfortunately took Shane Lowry away from victory. The only leader during his passage over the hole, he sends his iron shot into the bunker before sending his exit into the water hazard. He thus signs a double bogey which will cut him off in his tracks. He finally finished third, one shot from the play-off. Six other players finished alongside him in third position, including the authors of the two best Sunday cards: Cam Davis with a 63 (-8) and JT Poston with a 64 (-7).

Patrick Cantlay and Jordan Spieth therefore headed to the tee of 18 to decide. After both missing the green, it was Jordan Spieth who struck first with a flagged out of the bunker given for PAR. His opponent meanwhile had a long putt to extend the game, a putt that the winner of the FedEx Cup 2021 will miss to leave victory to the three-time major winner.

Jordan Spieth adds a thirteenth title to his PGA Tour record, which already has three majors and a FedEx Cup (among others). This victory comes at the right time since we are getting closer to the PGA Championship, the only major tournament missing from the former world number 1. This victory allows him to reintegrate the world top 10.
