Building on the success of its popular D9 range of long distance clubs released last year, Wilson has unveiled a new series of D9 Forged irons featuring breakthrough technology for advanced players seeking surgical precision.

The brand with more major tournament wins than any other manufacturer introduces its latest irons featuring its exclusive Power Hole technology, designed to enhance performance by combining the nuanced feel of a forged head with angles of higher launches to deliver exceptional stopping power on the greens.

They have been created using the brand's computerized generative design process, first used on the original D9 range, which simulates a large number of clubheads and multiple data variations to produce the most effective as possible.

A new asymmetrical Power Hole layout has been optimized for forged D9 heads with an offset toward the heel of the club that opens up the face and increases ball contact time for maximum speed and distance. A lower center of gravity allows for a higher launch angle, increased high trajectories and a steeper angle of descent for better stopping power.

“Wilson forged irons have won many major tournament victories and the D9 Forged model continues this tradition of which we are proud”said Jon Pergande, Head of Club Innovation. “We know that our Power Hole technology makes a real difference in hitting, feeling and launching the ball. Incorporating it into the computerized design process allowed us to test hundreds of variations, culminating in the final design that is the most technologically advanced wrought iron we have ever produced and one that purists absolutely must try”, he added.

The 2-piece head forged from high-grade 8620 carbon steel combines exceptional feel with a thin topline and minimal offset for irons that play as well as look good.

Wilson D9 Forged irons will be available from early April 2022, with a choice of a premium True Temper Dynamic Gold VVS steel shaft (95R and 105S) or a Mamiya UST Recoil Dart graphite shaft. They feature a Wilson Staff Lamkin Crossline grip.

The D9 Forged series of clubs will be offered at an MSRP of €899,99 (5-PW) in a steel shaft version and €1 in a graphite shaft version (020-PW). Both shaft options are offered for right-handed or left-handed use. 5 and GW irons are also available on request.
