Opened in 1992, the 5-star Glenlo Abbey Hotel is set in a former manor house which was built in 1740 about 3 km from downtown Galway. The property overlooks Lough Corrib and offers a magnificent view of the lake. The rooms, decorated with style, are very comfortable. The hotel also has an originality with the possibility for residents to dine in the green park inside an old restaurant car of the legendary Orient-Express train. Between local tradition and modern comfort, the establishment proves to be an excellent address with a very available staff also speaking French.

Three breathtaking courses

Connemara Championship Golf Links is located in Ballyconneely on the west coast of Connemara, a 2 hour drive from Galway. Designed by Eddie Hackett, this magnificent course offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The last nine holes including 3 along the coast hammered by the waves below are known to be particularly difficult (27 holes, par 72, length 6400 m).

Designed in 1993 by Christy O'Connor Jr, former Ryder and World Cup champion, the Galway Bay Golf Resort is also located by the sea. The strong wind that regularly changes direction in addition to the many obstacles - trees, lakes and bunkers - make the course particularly captivating (18 holes, par 72, length 6530 m).

Located in the seaside resort of Salthill, the Galway Golf Club is a course offering magnificent views of Galway Bay, the Burren and the Aran Islands. The first four holes along the sea, the raised greens bordered by wild gorse are remarkable (18 holes, par 70, length 5974 m).
