The PGA Tour returned after a major week for the Travelers Championship on the TPC River Highlands. This par 70 offered a prize money of $8. From the first round, it was the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy who opened the hostilities with a card of 300 (-000). His second round will not have gone as planned since with seven birdies, the former world number 62 plays "only" in the par, the fault of a double bogey and a quadruple bogey on his return. He will not be able to get back into the race for victory.

During the setbacks of the four-time major winner, it was Xander Shauffele who took the lead after 36 holes, with two cards of 63 (-7), without any bogey. He will remain leader on the evening of the third round, by a small step ahead of Patrick Cantlay, winner of the FedEx Cup 2021.

However, the expected duel between Cantlay and Schauffele ultimately did not take place, Cantlay signing nine bogeys and a double bogey in his game and a final card of 76 (+6).

The victory was finally decided between Schauffele and Sahith Theegala. Many believed that the Ryder Cup player had missed out on victory when Sahith Theegala birdied the 17th hole, putting him one step ahead. Unfortunately, he was unlucky on the 18th hole, after a misplaced drive into the bunker ending a few centimeters from the lip. This error finally costs him a double bogey and destroys his chances of victory. Xander Schauffele signs a final birdie on his 72nd hole and thus lifts the Travelers Championship trophy.

An amateur also achieved a great performance this week, Michael Thorbjornsen finished fourth in the event, the best performance achieved by an amateur on a PGA Tour tournament since 2016. Benefiting from an invitation by a sponsor, he signs cards of 68 -65-66-66 over his week for a total of -15.

Patrick Cantaly finally finished 13th in the event at -10, closely followed by Rory McIlroy, 19th at -9.

Paul Barjon, after passing the Cut, signed a good card of 66 (-4) replacing him 31st. Unfortunately, he misses his Sunday with a 73 (+3) and a 53rd place finish.
