At the end of a competition overflown by the Americans, Europe lost to Whistling Straits with a heavy score of 19-9.

Padraig Harrington's men will never have been able to worry Team USA and lose ten points, the biggest difference in the modern era.

After three years of waiting following the global pandemic, Europe and the United States met at Whistling Straits for the 43rd edition of the Ryder Cup.

The American team once again featured a favorite team with their entire workforce in the top 25 in the world.

From the first day, the Americans marked the blow by winning the two sessions 3-1, for a total score of 6-2.

This first day was the opportunity to see world number 1 John Rahm assert his role as leader. Together with his compatriot Sergio Garcia, the two men bring back the only European victory on Friday.

This Spanish grinta was obviously reminiscent of a certain historical Spanish pair: Ballesteros and Olazabal.

The Saturday doubles have once again turned in favor of the Americans.

The morning session in foursome again gave the score 3-1, with another victory for the Spanish duo Rahm / Garcia.

During the last doubles session on Saturday afternoon, the tension was felt for the first time.

After ten holes, the hypothesis of a 4-0 in favor of Europe was conceivable. Led by Shane Lowry, the European charge was launched.

Thanks to a putt of more than three meters on the 18th hole, Lowry and Hatton win a valuable point for the European team. At the same time, Garcia and Rahm add another victory to their score and a new point for Europe.

The last two doubles unfortunately lost, bringing the score to 11-5.

At the start of hole number 1 on Sunday, the task was clear for Team Europe: to win nine out of twelve matches.

It was therefore important for Padraig Harrington and his vice captains, to support the first parts in order to put blue quickly on the leaderboard.

Unfortunately, if not Rory McIlroy, the first games were quickly led by the Americans.

After the victories of Cantlay, Scheffler and DeChambeau, it was finally Collin Morikawa who brought the fourteenth point and a half by sharing his match with Viktor Hovland, and at the same time the victory for the Americans.

The two young 24-year-old rookies parted back-to-back after a very tough and contested game.

Behind them, Johnson, Koepka and Thomas offer three new points for the American team.

The Postman or Monsieur Ryder Cup alias Ian Poulter once again won his single against Tony Finau and added a point to Europe's score. He remains undefeated in singles in the Ryder Cup. This edition may have been the last for him, Poulter who broke down in tears after finishing his match.

The score was now 17,5 to 7,5 in favor of the Americans, who thought within an hour, register 20 points.

Lee Westwood adds a point for Europe by winning his match against Harris English.

Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood share their match.

The last match took place in the square at the start of the 18th: Matt Fitzpatrick facing Daniel Berger.

After a ball in the water of the English on the green attack, it is finally Daniel Berger who wins his match, offers a 19th point in the USA, and the record of the biggest gap.

The Americans this time showed real solidarity and team spirit and flew over the competition, like Dustin Johnson who won his 5 matches in this 2020 edition.

Associated three times with Collin Morikawa (and once with Xander Schaufele), the oldest and the rookie delivered a strong performance and are both unbeaten.

Padraig Harrington's team made us vibrate for an afternoon thanks in particular to Shane Lowry. They will try to take back the Ryder Cup from Steve Stricker's men in two years in Rome.

Another difficult picture from this Sunday was Rory McIlroy's tears after his game was over. Despite a singles match won 3 & 2 against Xander Sc Chaudele, the northern Irishman could not hide his disappointment. In the discomfort during the doubles without any match won, the former world number 1 has apologized many times to his team for his performance, having great difficulty in finding the words in front of the microphone of the journalists.

See you in Rome in 2023 for the 44th Ryder Cup.
