In preparation for the 2018 Ryder Cup, the National Golf will host a day of symposium and presentation on the theme of handigolf on Saturday April 14, from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m.

Supported by the City of Guyancourt in association with the UVSQ - University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the Departmental Directorate of Social Cohesion, the French Golf Federation, the National Golf, the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee, the Handigolf association, the Mobility Handicap Resource and Innovation Center (Ceremh) and the territory's golf associations, this half-day will accommodate a large audience, enthusiasts and curious, able-bodied and people in a situation of handicap.

Its objective is to promote handigolf which is practiced without any particular infrastructure, on the same courses as the able-bodied but with an adaptation of the rules and especially the equipment. This discipline could be one of the sports selected for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

All afternoon will follow:

  • activities within a handigolf village: initiations, fun areas, awareness raising, a showroom presenting suitable equipment, etc.
  • a conference with the intervention of golf and handicap experts. These conferences will focus on accessibility, practice and handigolf competition. (14:30 p.m.)
  • An official delivery by Bouygues for the construction of a “paragolfeur” (a wheelchair suitable for playing golf) to the Handigolf association
  • a demonstration by members of the French team, currently European champion in handigolf (17 p.m.)

“The Golf National works daily to serve French golf as a whole. Handigolf becomes essential in this mission of being the real golf course for all golfers. Being federal equipment - we must set an example through a strong partnership in the development of sport and leisure golf in the fields of handigolf. This is why we are present today and as much as possible in this area. ”
Paul Armitage, director of the Golf National

“The outcome of this Handigolf Day, at the Golf National, the future site of the Ryder Cup 2018 and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, is a strong signal sent to the International Paralympic Committee. Any event and action that can allow handigolf to join the Olympic family, as golf did in the able-bodied in 2016 after 112 years of absence, is a formidable development accelerator for the practice in terms of openness and development. 'accessibility. "
Jean-Lou Charon, president of the French Golf Federation

“The City of Guyancourt is happy to host HandiGolf Day on April 14th. This is a great first for the territory of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and it is only natural that it takes place in the Municipality. Guyancourtois are particularly sensitive to these issues and the Municipality is committed to ensuring that equality between all citizens is effective. Shedding light on disability is therefore part of our policy in favor of people with disabilities, whether in the area of accessibility, housing, education, sport, culture or leisure. . "
Marie-Christine Letarnec, Mayor of Guyancourt, Vice-president of the CA Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

“The UVSQ wanted to be present during this day of meetings around handigolf. In our laboratories, disability and mobility are among our most promising research subjects. As an employer, the integration of people with reduced mobility and their well-being, in particular through the practice of sport, are also part of the university's priorities. Finally, as a university anchored in the Yvelines, UVSQ is committed to participating in the major events organized around the 2018 Ryder Cup. ”
Alain Bui, president of UVSQ
