In the first round of the Drive On Championship on the beautiful new course in Arizona chosen to host the event, 94 players managed to finish under par. A trio of American Alison Lee, South Korean Jenny Shin and Mexican Gaby Lopez, all very international, took the lead with a score of -7. England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Taipei player Wei-Ling Hsu follow close behind, one shot behind. A total of 11 players sit in sixth place just two strokes behind the top three.

Our two most successful golfers, Pauline Roussin-Bouchard and Perrine Delacour 16th after 18 holes, both posting an excellent 68 (-4) . Perrine Delacour, back on the LPGA Tour after several months away for personal reasons, managed to score seven birdies on Thursday. Although her day was marred by three bogeys, the Picardy could be satisfied with her performance.

Pauline Roussin-Bouchard also scored 68, as did Perrine Delacour. After impressing his coach Alain Alberti, as he declared on the website of the French Golf Federation, with his exceptional victory at the Aramco Team Series in Singapore last week.

Also noteworthy was the good performance of Céline Boutier, the French number 1, who finished with a card of 69. However, she is currently in 33rd place alongside the fourth player in the world, Atthaya Thitikul. The Thai is the highest ranked player in the world's top five because, in the absence of Lydia Ko and Minjee Lee, Jin Young Ko and Nelly Korda, as well as the winner of the Evian Championship Brooke Henderson, who played in the main part of the first two rounds, settled for a score of 70 which currently places them in 48th place.

Céline Herbin, the fourth Frenchwoman qualified thanks to Monday's selection test, struggled in the first round. Her scorecard of 74 places her at the bottom of the standings, 4 strokes down on the provisional cut line.
