From 01 June 2015, the Grand Hotel, in the heart of the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz will offer its guests a new journey. It was during the 30th century that the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, until then dedicated to whale and cod fishing, gradually transformed into a seaside resort. Napoleon III and Eugenie having got into the habit of receiving the crowned heads and the greats of this world, the city benefited from substantial aid from the imperial couple for the construction of protective dikes. Located opposite the Ocean, true to its history, the Grand Hotel illustrates the very rich hours of the Basque coast, the XNUMXs, art nouveau and modernity.

Inside, the atmospheres are and will forever remain clear, bright and warm. Lacquers, taffetas, satins, velvet, geometric patterns, mosaics and stained glass are all references to creators such as, Ruhlmann, Grüber, or Eileen Gray. A place of memory, the hotel reveals this past around old photos, like a discovery walk from the hall to the rooms. Rest assured, at the end of the works, the entrance hall will retain its old-fashioned advantages, with its coffered ceilings, its marbles with cabochons and its large wooden staircase, in a complex now revisited. and rejuvenated. The color palette has become brighter, playing with warm whites, greige and ivory, structured in black, silver or gold lacquer. The chandeliers in blown glass diffuse a warm and subdued light.

Direct access to the beach

A veritable living space where light from its view of the Ocean penetrates widely, the lounge bar warms the hearts and souls of visitors with its pastel tones and large taffeta curtains. Its blinds and glass sconces accompany the dining room, which opens onto a show kitchen. Velvet and leather armchairs, black lacquer tables, large chandeliers and floor lamps made of glass beads form a definite link with water and the sea. Space of intimacy par excellence, the rooms enlarged with new junior suites with terraces , want to be serene and soothing, enhancing the view and the space. The carpet, with its curved patterns echoes the padded leather headboard. The nickel-plated lights, specially designed for the hotel, refer to Perzel, the essential designer of the 30s.

For its part, the thalassotherapy institute of the Grand Hotel, the Loreamar Thalasso Spa is designed on a single level of 1000 m², facing the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, with direct access to the beach. In this setting where everything is only daydreaming and cocooning, seawater treatments are all the more beneficial. In terms of equipment, the establishment prides itself on having 20 treatment cabins in natural light, a heated seawater swimming pool with multijets and underwater music, a hammam, a sauna and a multisensory shower, a space rest and herbal tea under magnificent vaults and finally a fitness room including a private coaching room.

Gastronomy turned to the ocean

Immersed in the world of coastal and deep-sea fishing in the Basque Country, the chef of "L'Océan" presents a menu exclusively made up of seasonal products. Seafood and fresh vegetables prepared on site. Each season, new culinary creations are offered. At the table of "L'Océan", traditional dishes rub shoulders with more original recipes with surprising flavors and refined creations. This year, a children's menu (4 to 10 years old) will also be offered while thematic cooking workshops (diet, fish, pastry) will be organized for customers.

In addition to the boutique on the ground floor of the hotel, the doctor's office, the salon dedicated to hair care and the children's club, new treatments will be available for spa guests upon reopening, such as: individualized treatments on “impacted” areas, energetic stimulation on specific points of the various organs to be rebalanced, targeted hydro-balneotherapy treatments to eliminate toxins or even Valmont aesthetic treatments which benefit from high-end protocols. See you on June 01, at the Grand Hôtel Thalasso & Spa in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, to experience a new story in a completely revisited setting.
