The Americans dominated the European team head and shoulders at the Ping Junior Solheim Cup, winning by a crushing score of 18,5 to 5,5. Under the direction of Beth Daniel.

After their stinging defeat suffered last year at Finca Cortesin, the Americans were keen to take their revenge for the return of the Ping Junior Solheim Cup.

At theArmy Navy Country Club, Team USA led by Beth Daniel made history by recording the biggest win of the PING Junior Solheim Cup (PJSC) to reclaim the biennial trophy. Leading Team Europe in Gwladys Nocera 8-4 before the start of the singles, the host team put on a match play display, winning 10 of their 12 singles matches to triumph 18,5 to 5,5.

Elizabeth Rudisell opened the show in Virginia by winning her team's first point of the day by beating Andrea Revuelta of Spain 3&2. A wave of red quickly swept the scoreboard with convincing wins from Natalie Yen, Anna Fang and Madison Messimer, leaving the United States just 0,5 points from victory. The decisive result came from Jude Lee, Monday's foursomes star, who beat Iceland's Perla Sol Sigurbrandsdottir 5&4.

“It was amazing to be able to play with the best players in the country,” Lee said. “It’s a week we’ll never forget.”

With this victory, the team of Beth daniel made history by achieving the largest margin of victory in the competition. The PJSC's previous record was 17-7, set by the United States in the inaugural edition in 2002. The host team also lifted the trophy for the first time since 2019 and improved the series record to 9-4.

At the opening ceremony, LPGA Hall of Famer Beth Daniel, who won 33 games, said:

“My team was incredible. This is their victory. They gave it their all. They all wanted to win. I really think the difference was that we were in our nation’s capital!”

His counterpart, Gwladys Nocera, 14 times winner of the Ladies European Tour (LET), added :

« The United States played unbelievably. They have a very strong team. We beat them last time, they came with a good revenge. We will be ready again in two years."

In two years, the PING Junior Solheim Cup – along with its parent event, the Solheim Cup – will head to the Netherlands for the first time. Europe expects to have several of its 2024 stars back on the team to try to reclaim the trophy.
