Superlatives are lacking to describe Bernhard Langer's career: former world number 1, two-time winner at Augusta, Ryder Cup winner as player and captain and also 40 wins on the European Tour.

The German, who turned pro in 1976, has been shining for a few years on the PGA Champions Tour, reserved for players over fifty years old. Here again, the 64-year-old has many lines in his record: 42 titles including 11 major victories.

For the 2021 edition of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship which was being played in Phoenix, Arizona, it was the “rookie” Phil Mickelson who was able to stand out to win the final.

With three birdies on his last four holes, he won the Champions Tour final one step ahead of New Zealander Steven Alker.

The points race title was played very little between Bernhard Langer and Jim Furyk. The latter took the start of the last lap as leader and a podium was enough for him to win the classification of the circuit. A lackluster card in the PAR during the last round, ejected him from the podium for a final fifth place in this tournament.

Bernhard Langer after two first laps without bursts, signed a 63 (-8) on Saturday to replace himself, and finally finished in 17th position with a 69 (-2) on Sunday.

Bernhard Langer thus becomes for the sixth time winner of the Charles Schwab Cup. Although the endowments are less important on the Champions Tour than on the PGA Tour, Bernhard Langer, thanks to his 42 victories and his numerous places of honor, has already reached more than 30 million wins. Now 64 years old, it is hoped that the winner of the 1985 and 1993 Masters will come close to or surpass Hale Irwin's record of 45 victories.
