Pebble Beach Company and Tiger Woods, through its design firm TGR, have published plans in recent days to transform the former site of the Peter Hay Golf Course. Located directly between the Pebble Beach Pro Shop and the Golf Academy, the new site will include:

  • A small course made up of nine par-3s ranging in length from 42 to 96 meters and measuring 612 meters in total;
  • A putting course of 6100m² which can be arranged according to different combinations of holes and tracks;
  • A 1500m² restaurant facility including a kitchen and bar, indoor seating and the resort's largest outdoor patio, with breathtaking views of the short course, the putting course, Carmel Bay and Point Lobos.

"We are delighted to raise the quality of our small course to a level comparable to that of our other world class golf courses"said Bill Perocchi, managing director of Pebble Beach. “You can see the genius of Tiger Woods and TGR Design come to life as you walk around the site, the way it all comes together. I expect all aspects of this new facility to be very popular for junior golf events, Resort golfers, outings, residents' hangouts, etc. "

Tiger Woods' design philosophy for the short course is based on playability and creativity. His vision is that this course will attract new players, bring families together and provide a fun golf experience for players of all ages and abilities, while challenging experienced players.

"Everyone who plays on this golf course will appreciate its playability"said Tiger Woods. “Golfers will have the choice of playing almost any club on most tees and around the greens, which will get them thinking and channeling their creativity. It will also play out differently from day to day depending on the location of the tees and holes and the direction of the wind. It will be a lot of fun. I can't wait to play it. "

In designing this new course, inspiration from Tiger Woods has resulted in dramatic transformations of the course and a nine hole entirely different from the old one. He also reoriented the course to better capture the views, with four holes now being played directly towards Carmel Bay.

Additionally, TGR has aligned the length of each hole to match an important year in Pebble Beach history, with commemorative plaques on each tee that tell a story so guests will realize they are each other. walk through the heart of the historical heritage of the Resort's legendary tournaments while they play. The only exception is the second hole of the course, which will be an exact replica of the famous seventh hole on the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

“Pebble Beach is such an iconic golf destination that we want customers to feel the whole spirit of this course. We also know that not everyone who comes to Pebble Beach will have the chance to play on the US Open course, which is why we wanted to give all visitors the opportunity to experience one of its holes. the most famous "added Tiger Woods.

The official opening of all the facilities is currently scheduled for spring 2021.
