McIlroy and Cantlay leaders of the US Open, Pavon 4th
The first round of the US Open is underway, two players stand out at -5: Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay. This duo of leaders undoubtedly reminds us of the last Ryder Cup in Rome, and a heated altercation between the two players. Matthieu Pavon shone in this first round on the tortuous greens of Pinehurst. A leading time thanks to two eagles at the start of the game, Matthieu Pavon scores 67 (-3) and places himself in 4th position. Tiger Woods plays +4, Victor Perez plays +5.
The Pinehurst fairways welcome the best players in the world this week for the 142nd US Open in history. Two players share the lead on the leaderboard: Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy. The American, in the morning games, finished his game with a bang with three birdies on these last five holes. Rory McIlroy, for his part, had a perfect game with five birdies and no bogeys. The last time the Northern Irishman opened his tournament with a bogey-free round was in 2014, during his victory at The Open…

Ludvig Aberg places third, at -4. For this first US Open, the Swede is once again present at a major event. He finished in second place at the Masters earlier in the year, his first major tournament.
Matthieu Pavon makes his big return to the top of the leaderboards during this US Open week. After his thunderous start to the season, the Bordeaux player encountered a more difficult passage. In any case, thanks to a card of 67 (-3), Matthieu Pavon is placed in fourth position in the ranking. A stroke of brilliance from the winner of the Farmers Insurance Open, who scored two eagles on the only two par 5s on the Pinehurst number 2 course.
