Already spoiled by the presence of the Spaniard Azahara Muñoz, 16th player in the world (as of September 16) and title holder, the Lacoste Ladies Open de France 2014 will offer French golf fans another star of international stature, in the person of Cristie Kerr. Currently 12 in the world, the native of Miami, Florida will be the top ranked player among the 78 entered, and one of the main favorites in view of her experience and her CV. Pro since the summer of 1996 and member of the LPGA Tour the following season, the American has indeed established one of the most impressive achievements in modern women's golf.

From her first win in 2002 to her most recent last season, Kerr has lifted 16 trophies on the US Women's Tour, including two Majors. Sacred at the US Women's Open in 2007, she did it again three years later at the LPGA Championship, where she won with a record margin of 12 strokes. The next day, she became the first American to rise to the rank of world number 1 since the ranking was created in 2006. She held that place three times during the 2010 season, for a total of five weeks. Flag bearer of American women's golf for more than fifteen years, the Floridian has also played seven Solheim Cups, for four victories in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2009. If she has not yet achieved success this season, she remains a safe bet of the LPGA Tour, where it occupies 10th place thanks to eleven top 10s in 19 tournaments.

Young mother - her first son was born last December - Cristie Kerr is much more than an exceptional golfer. Its “Birdies for Breast Cancer” foundation, intended to raise funds in favor of the fight against breast cancer, has raised more than three million dollars since its creation in 2003. A success that has enabled it to open, in 2010, in Jersey City, the Cristie Kerr Women's Health Center, a medical center dedicated to women with breast cancer. The American has also embarked on wine, creating the Curvature Wines brand in 2009. It is therefore an international class champion, but also a talented businesswoman, that the 2014 edition of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France has the honor of welcoming.
