The DP World Tour is stopping off this week in Wales for the Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale, in a place steeped in history: the Celtic Manor Resort, a Ryder Cup course. It had indeed hosted the competition between Europe and the United States, Europe having crushed the United States that year in 2010. After the first round of this Cazoo Open, three players occupy the first place of the leaderboard, including a French: Julien Guerrier.

The Frenchman, recent third in the Cazoo Classic in Scotland, returns a card of 67 (-4) for his first round. Showing up with a score of -4 at the start of the 12th, he commits three bogeys in a row. However, he bounced back by signing three birdies on his last four holes. The Frenchman is chaining the cards under the PAR at the moment despite a cut last week: the Cut was at -6 and Guerrier fails at a score of -5.

He shares the lead in the standings with Scotsman Connor Syme and Englishman Dale Whitnell. The classification is however very dense since a wagon of six pursuers at -3, will chase the leading men for the second round.

Frederic Lacroix is also in the top 15 of the event. With three birdies for two bogeys, he is 15th at -1.
