Five years after turning pro, Jon Rahm is close to the top. The year 2021 will have been a real success for the Spaniard. At 26, he won his first major: the 114th US Open at Torrey Pines. His best major result so far was a third place finish at the 2019 US Open. The victory came just a week after he first became a dad on Father's Day. He became the father of a little boy: Kepa Cahill Rahm.

In addition to his victory at the US Open, John Rahm has never left the top 10 this season in major: fifth at the Masters, third at The Open and eighth at the US PGA.

Despite the heavy defeat of Europe in the Ryder Cup, Jon Rahm will have thrilled the crowd during the doubles associated with Sergio Garcia.

Collin Morikawa could have played the troublesome part and stole this number 1 spot from Jon Rahm. The American also shone in 2021, having won his first title in major at the US PGA 2020. He became a two-time winner in major by winning the 149th Open Championship.

Morikawa also won a world championship title at the WGC - Workday Championship and then won in the Race to Dubai final, killing two birds with one stone to win the DP World Tour Championship as well as the order of merit of the European circuit.

He will also have been a great architect of America's victory in the 2021 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits with a record of three wins and a draw in four games.

The 24-year-old could have become world number 1 by winning the Hero World Challenge, but one last lap over the par sidelined him from victory.

Dustin Johnson, world number 1 2020 completes the podium.

There is only one tournament left on the PGA Tour before the break, the QBE Shootout. The DP World Tour will not resume until January, with the Alfred Dunhill Links in South Africa being canceled due to the pandemic.
