The Dane entered the final round with a two-stroke lead before birdying the first, second and sixth holes to extend his lead.

Six successive pars midway through Olesen's round allowed compatriot and playing partner Nicolai Højgaard to close the gap to two shots once again, but the 33-year-old responded with a hat-trick of birdies from the 13th to take a five-stroke lead with three holes remaining.

He then made par to post a bogey-free 66 and finish the tournament at 24 under par.

This victory confirms the excellent reputation of Olesen, who has managed to convert 54-hole leads into victories, and who has achieved this feat six times on the DP World Tour.
German Yannik Paul finished alone in second place, 20 under par, after finishing his 68 with a birdie.

Joost Luiten and Alexander Knappe are tied for third place, two shots behind.

Olesen got off to a fantastic start on Sunday, sending his approach to the first hole about four feet before driving it in for a first birdie.

He followed that up with another gain on the second and moved to 21-under with a five-foot birdie putt in the sixth.

Olesen had to settle for pars on the next six holes before birdying his fourth of the day on the 13th par three, from a distance of about 20 feet, to restore the three-shot lead he held on the turn. .
He then sent his approach a similar distance on the 14th before making another long-range holie to climb back to 23 under.

He birdied three straight from close range on the par five of the 15th before saving the par on the 16th, after missing the fairway with his tee-shot.

After a long wait off the 17th, Olesen found the island green safely before making two putts for par and he also pared on the final hole to keep his card clean.

Olesen, whose previous victory dates back to last year's Betfred British Masters hosted by Danny Willett, was delighted to be back in the winner's circle.

He stated : «It's very special. Obviously the victory at the British Masters was incredible, with my family, and it had been a long time since I had won the last time.

“But also this one, all the hard work and sacrifice my wife made. It's truly pleasent."

Olesen was pleased with his performance on Sunday, adding: «I felt really good today, I felt stable, I felt like I was in control and I just enjoyed playing golf today, which was really nice."
