Callaway unveils the Opus and Opus Platinum Wedges
Callaway's Opus and Opus Platinum wedges feature new Spin Gen Face Technology™ for improved spin and precise control. These wedges, popular with professionals and available in several finishes.
Technology Spin Gen Face Technology brings spin and control by combining three key elements on the face of the Opus. An all-new, tighter pitch places more grooves on the face, an offset groove-in-groove design creates spin when opening the face, and an aggressive new blast on the face is developed for spin. and bite on partial hits. These three elements combine to provide crisp, Tour-level spin that promotes short game action and control like never before.
The Opus Wedges also present the most tested and validated forms by the Tour in the history of Callaway. A higher toe peak, radius in the leading edge and easier hosel transitions make this the best wedge shape ever made. Finding the right grind for your swing is also essential in wedge play. That's why Opus offers a full range of sole shapes, from narrow to wide, available in the popular S grind, W forgiving, C versatile, and Tour favorite T grind.
These new wedges are already a popular choice on Tour, with two major victories to date. Xander Scheatele, winner of PGA Championship 2024, and Yuka saso, champion ofUS Women's Open 2024, both had them in their bag during their victories. Akshay Bhatia, winner of Valero Texas Open 2024, Chris Kirk, winner of Sentry Tournament of Champions 2024, and Ruoning Yin, winner of Dow Championship 2024, are also part of the group of players who have already won using Opus.
This week, during the 152nd edition of the Open Championship, many talents will tackle the Royal Troon with Wedges Opus in their bag, notably the Danish twins Nicolai et Rasmus Højgaard, as well as the Northern Irish Tom McKibbin.
Opus is available in two finishes: brushed chrome and black shadow. A raw version is also available as custom. Stock shaft options include the True Temper Dynamic Gold MID 115g shaft (steel) and the UST Recoil DART HDC 65g shaft (graphite), paired with Golf Pride Tour Velvet +2 Gray grips.
The new Opus Platinum Wedges bring real innovation merging advances in metal injection molding (MiM) and tungsten for launch control. MiM construction has allowed Callaway to bring unprecedented precision to wedge construction to deliver touch and feel where players need it. Tungsten has also been incorporated into the topline, which lowers the flight for more control and spin into the greens. The designs feature Spin Gen Face technology for Tour-level spin as well as Tour-certified shapes.
The Opus Platinum is offered in Blue and Chrome finishes with DG Mid 115 steel shafts and MCC gray-black grips.
