The last major tournament of the women's season gave its verdict and crowned a South African: Ashleigh Buhai. Leader at the start of the last round with five strokes ahead of her first pursuers, Buhai was scared during this last round of golf at the British Open. Leader throughout the day with a comfortable mattress, the South African commits a triple bogey on the 15th hole and puts her opponents in the race for the title. She finally finished her 72 holes at the -10 mark, just like the Korean In Gee Chun.

Ashleigh Buhai knew during a four-hole playoff, seize her chance to win the first major tournament of her career: the AIG Women's Open.

In Gee Chun finished second in the event and Japanese Hinako Shibuno completed the podium.

Minjee Lee, world number 2, finished fourth in the event with a total of -7. It is also the total of Leona Maguire who signs the best card of the day with a 66 (-5).
