Choi, amateur champion of Queensland and South Australia, started her first round perfectly with a brilliant 66 (-6) two strokes on a pair of Swedes Madelene Sagstrom and Daniela Holmqvist at the Bonville Golf Resort in Coffs Harbor.

Another Swede, Jenny Haglund, shares fourth place with West Australians Hannah Green and Whitney Hillier and Spain's Nuria Iturrios who have played all morning in light rain in hot and humid conditions.

French side

The tournament brings back good memories to the French players since it had seen the victory of Céline Boutier last year. Present this week on the LPGA Tour, the player from Montrouge gives way to Céline Herbin, leader of the French clan after the first round. This Thursday, the Normande made a solid start to the tournament with four birdies for three bogeys. Her 71 (-1) card puts her in ninth place, five shots from the head.

Behind, only Agathe Sauzon also managed to resist the course with a score in the par and a provisional 24th place. Camille Chevalier follows in +1 (41st), ahead of Justine Dreher and Astrid Vayson de Pradenne (59th, + 2).

The other Blue sites will see a fight to pass the cut tomorrow. At +3, Emie Peronnin is 72nd, ahead of Isabelle Boineau (86th, + 4), Manon Mollé and Ines Lescudier (113th, + 6), and Valentine Derrey and Manon Gidali (120th, + 7).
