From September 27, the Royal Academy of Arts (London) will present the first major retrospective of German artist Anselm Kiefer UK (b.1945), widely regarded as one of the most important artists of his generation.

Bringing together large loans from international private and public collections alongside new works designed specifically for the great halls of the Royal Academy, this retrospective will showcase Kiefer's fascination with history and the great masters of the past. It will recall the main themes and the diversity, personal iconography that Kiefer has created, spanning over forty years from his early career to the present day.

Light on controversial paintings and photographs by Kiefer "Occupations" and the series "Heroic Symbols" and paintings from his series "Attic".
