The Norwegian winner of the Evian Championship in 2013 took the provisional lead (-7) before the night ended the second round. Karine Icher, stopped at 11, was at that time 2nd tied at -6. He will have seven holes to complete before the third round, this Saturday in stride.

Icher, Kerr and Masson were co-leaders after a round

The high winds that stopped the first round of ANA Inspiration on Thursday in Rancho Mirage, California, have subsided. But the course of the first female Major of the season is always a little upset. Thursday, when the game was interrupted, Karine Icher had taken the provisional lead alone with a first card of 67. It was not until Friday morning that the entire field completed her first round, Icher being then joined at the head of the leaderboard by the American Cristie Kerr and the German Caroline Masson, also at -5.

Second tour stopped by the night, following this Saturday…

With the delay taken, the second round, disputed Friday afternoon, had little chance of coming to an end. And indeed, the game was interrupted by the night while some players were only at their sixth hole on the Dinah Shore Course of the Mission Hills Country Club.… Like Karine Icher the day before, Suzann Pettersen then took the lead of the tournament, with -7 total. But without that this is not definitive since many players will have to finish their second round this Saturday, before continuing on to the third round later in the day. We get lost a little, especially with the time difference (nine hours difference between California and France).

Karine Icher was at -6 total with seven holes to play

What should be remembered, before the end of the second round this Saturday (from 16:15 p.m. French time), is that Suzann Pettersen was the only player at - 7, thanks to her successive cards of 68 and 69. Que four players having completed their second round - Inbee Park, Minjee Lee, Nelly Korda and Cristie Kerr - were on her heels at - 6. And that Karine Icher also posted -6 total, but just before being stopped by the night at 11 when she was at -1 for the day (ten pars, one birdie). The Frenchwoman therefore had seven holes to play to consolidate her good position at mid-tournament.

Two rounds in a row: fatal for the German Masson

Once the cut is established, the players, in stride, will attack their third round this Saturday afternoon (tonight in France). Not always easy. Caroline Masson of Germany paid the price yesterday Friday. Co-leader with Kerr and Icher thanks to an initial 67 card completed over two days, she had very little time to digest this provisional leadership before leaving almost immediately for the second round. His second card, which ended with four bogeys and a double bogey, for a final 76 and dozens of places lost in the ranking, speaks for itself…

Inbee Park, Lydia Ko and Ariya Jutanugarn in ambush

Side favorites, the Olympic champion Inbee Park (69, 69) was ideally placed with this - 6 at halftime, she who could grab an 8th victory in a Major. As for Lydia Ko (70, 70) and Ariya Jutanugarn (70, 70), respectively world number 1 and number 2 in the Rolex Rankings, they managed their unfavorable parameters at the start of the tournament as well as possible: game in the wind Thursday after- noon before the end of the games, end of the first and second round accumulated yesterday ... With a total -4, the duo are far from being left behind by Suzann Pettersen. Even if the great Norwegian, already three times 2nd in the ANA Inspiration in the past, will want to win the front page this time!
