Matthieu Pavon will be in the final round with Jhonattan Vegas on the moving day! Thanks to a 65 (-6), the Bordeaux native climbs back to second place on the leaderboard, a day that feels good after a lackluster start to the season. The Venezuelan still leads with a total of -8. Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are in for a scare, as they make the cut on the line. Victor Perez misses the cut by two shots.

Frenchman Matthieu Pavon had a superb performance in the second round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. After a 71 in the first round, he shot a 65 on Friday, climbing 44 places on the leaderboard. This move now places him in second place, tied with Matt Fitzpatrick and Si Woo Kim, all three at -6, just two shots behind leader Jhonattan Vegas (-8). Pavon is thus ideally positioned to play a leading role this weekend.

Pavon, who began his week in the shadow of the favorites after a lackluster start to the season, finds himself with another chance to shine in a major, having finished 5th at the last US Open. With a total of 136 after 36 holes, he is getting closer to a potential first major victory, a performance that could mark a turning point in his career.

We must not forget the world number 1, who after two serious days, is lying in wait at -5.

A mixed day for recent Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy. After a blazing start with a 4-under par through the first ten holes, the Northern Irishman closed his round with two bogeys on the 17th and 18th, enough to give him a scare just to make the cut on the line. The last time he made the cut at +1 while nine shots behind the leader at Quail Hollow was in 2010, when he won: who knows?

Victor Perez's weekend was over, missing the cut by two strokes with a total of +3. He joined big names like Jordan Spieth, who missed the cut by one stroke. He once again missed his chance at a grand slam. Justin Thomas was also eliminated, due to three bogeys on the last five holes.
