Augusta Masters: The Holy Grail of Major Tournaments

A tournament with a rich history and an exclusive format, the Augusta Masters is the most sought-after of the four Grand Slam tournaments for its unique character. Played by invitation only, it brings together the world's top 50 players, past winners, and select amateurs.

This year, 96 participants will attempt to tame the iconic yet formidable greens of this 72-meter par 6908. Two hours from Atlanta, the Augusta National Golf Club is also renowned for its technical and strategic testing and for its magnificent, spectacular views.

The world's No. 1 defender and the contenders for the green jacket

Scottie Scheffler, the current world number one and defending champion, will attempt to retain his green jacket with two victories under his belt and will be gunning for a third title. Rory McIlroy, currently in form after his victories at Pebble Beach and The Players Championship, is also among the favorites. Jon Rahm, the 1 winner and now a member of LIV Golf, could also cause a surprise.

Alongside them, talents such as Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, and Bryson DeChambeau are determined to shine. The presence of outsiders like Ludvig Åberg and the return of big names such as Brooks Koepka and Cameron Smith further enrich the array of possibilities.

The winner will not only receive the famous green jacket, but also a generous prize. In 2024, the prize for the first-place finisher was $3,6 million, while the overall prize pool reached $20 million.

The French touch with Matthieu Pavon

Bordeaux's Matthieu Pavon, ranked 52nd in the world, will be the only Frenchman competing in the event. After a superb 12th-place finish in his first Masters, he returns this year with the ambition of going even further.
